Dear Class,
Just a reminder for tonight's HW-->
The pink calendar should have all your work listed, but here are the changes:

--Choose one essay from the This I Believe reading and summarize it.
--Don't worry about writing the reflection.

Everything else will stay the same. See you on Thursday!

Announcements 9.24

Dear Class,
Just a recap of today's announcements:
1) Please do the reading listed on the calendar ("China Doll" and "Who Am I?").
2) Also read the two articles I distributed in class today ("The Ugly Truth" and "Struggling for Perfection").
3) Since I'm giving you additional readings to do this weekend, you DON'T need to write reading summaries, the bullet-point list, or a blog response this time.
4) Don't forget that your Paper #1 Revision Assignment is due TUE, 9/29.
5) You don't need to bring This I Believe to class on Tuesday.

Post #5 & Announcements

For your 5th post, read "My Inner Shrimp" and "Venus Envy" in your course pack. Then write a response to each one here. You can discuss your personal reactions, whether or not you identified with anything the authors said, things the articles made you think of, etc.

Length: One paragraph per response
Due: Before our next class meeting

Annnouncements:

1. Your blog responses and other homework are due Thursday, 9/24. So if, for example, you didn't do the "Marry Him" blog response yet, there's still time.
2. Start your revision assignments if you haven't already. That way, you can ask me on Thursday if you have any questions (you're also free to drop by office hours to run something by me).
3. Please bring your graded in-class essays to class on Thursday, 9/24. I'm planning to ask some of you for excerpts.

For your new blog response, write at least one well-developed paragraph about your reactions to the "Marry Him" article. [If you haven't read the article yet, budget more time than usual to read it because it's longer than all the others.]

Post #3: Everything but the ring

For your new blog response, read "Everything But the Ring" and answer ONE of the following two questions:

1) If you're not married, do you want to get married someday (and if you are married, why did you choose to get married)? If you don't want to, why don't you want to?

OR, if you'd rather not talk about your own preferences, answer #2:
2) What do you think the pros and cons of marriage are?

Length: At least two well-developed paragraphs

Post #2: Good Grammar & Check-in

For your new blog response, answer the following two questions:
1) What are your reactions to "Good Grammar Gets the Girl"? (For example, can you relate to what she's saying? Disagree? Did you find it educational? ..?)
2) Remember the yellow Goals & Choices sheet you filled out? How are you doing with the goals and habits that you wanted to develop?-->What have you been doing well with? What areas are you planning to work more on?

Length: 1 well-developed paragraph per answer
Due: Before our next class (Thu, 9/10)
